This is an experimental exercise. Not all 5eme classes were given this assignment yet! If your class got it, it is due next week.
Using feet and fractions of feet measure the length and width of three things:
your room, your bed, and your desk. Try to include a fraction of a foot if possible, instead of inches for a little fraction practice.
Now, draw each of these three objects to scale, using 1/2 inch = 1 foot as your scale, or an appropriate scale, if that doesn't work for you.
Find the area of each object, using your skills in multiplying fractions!
Remember the shopping centers you did in 5th grade. This is just a quick review of similar concepts, with a focus on using fractions.
